Onder Planologen delves into groeikernen (new towns)! In the 60s there were growing concerns about the increasing crowdedness in the Randstad area. In order to guide growth, the national government designated so called ‘groeikernen’ (new towns). Many of these rapidly grew to middle sized cities with respect to population. However, the diversity of services fell behind and the new towns were dealing with social issues.
